Posture is the key to your ultimate success when striving to obtain your dream body. Why? It’s simple. When you have correct physique, your muscles and bones are aligned correctly. In turn, this gives your body a sleeker shape.
The next time you are out and about, take a few moments to look around you and analyze the people on their alignment. If you are lucky enough to find 3 people that have correct bodily alignment, then I congratulate you, because most people do not.
Instead you are most likely going to see bad posture. The bullet points below will show the most common issues.
- Head leans forward in front of the shoulders.
- If they are in a chair, they are slouching.
- Some part of their back is arched.
Correcting these three common mistakes in posture can change your body so your abdominals look bigger, firmer, and stronger. When you have bad alignment, your body (in a way) collapses on itself. Because of this, your skin folds on top of itself creating a crease in your skin making you look fatter than you actually are.
Correcting your body alignment will take some practice of double checking how your body is positioned throughout the day. The longer that you work on it, the faster it will become second nature to you and you will be able to look better and feel more confident with how you look.
- If you find that you look at the ground or peoples feet, practice on looking straight ahead by making it a habit to look at people’s eyes or hair, or read signs that are up in the air. This should straighten your neck so it does not lead your body.
- If you slouch in a chair, sit up straight. (Obvious right?) Make it a habit to make sure that your lower back is always touching the back of the chair. If it is not, you are slouching. This will take some time to fix because your back will need to build up strength to hold up your body correctly.
- When standing keep your back straight, make sure that your shoulders and chest are ever so slightly pushed out. It will put your spine into a straight alignment.

With practice you will be able to start doing these things naturally. I would recommend practicing in front of a mirror to start with so you can see how these adjustments affect your body and how they should feel.
