Take a moment to look around you and just take a moment to think how many people have some sort of gut or look overweight. Once you have noted that, take a look at their posture. In your opinion do you think they have good posture?

Most likely the answer is no. Now take a moment on the position you are sitting while reading this page? Do you think that you are performing good posture? Probably no right?

So what can you to answer the question of can correct posture make the tummy look flat? There are three important parts to the posture that will answer this question for you.

The Three Important Parts To Posture

Posture Equals Muscle

1. Straight Back – This is the most important of the three parts of a good posture to keep your stomach flat.

Try doing it right now, most likely you will feel like you grew a few inches as you sit up straight. The feeling of being taller actually increases the distance that your skin has to cover your body.

In turn, there is less bulge around the stomach area because the skin is now in the correct position and not on top of itself.

2. Chest And Shoulders – This exercise you are going to need to do in front of a mirror. Turn so you are facing at a 45 degree angle with the mirror and look at your body. When you straighten your back, note how your shoulders move.

Try pushing out your chest just a little. This will make your back be in a perfect line and if you switch back and forth in between the chest positions you should notice that you are actually more muscular looking just from having correct posture.

3. Neck – Most people tend to have their neck leaning forward. I am even guilty of doing this, and it might actually stem from working out so much.

For this you will want your shoulders to be perpendicular to the mirror. Keep your head straight and then slowly turn it towards the mirror. Is your neck in front of your body compared to being on the same plane with it? If it is, then you will need to practice on keeping your neck back for correct posture.

Conclusion

Can correct posture make the tummy look flat? Yes it can, just make sure that you keep a straight back, a strong chest and shoulders, and make sure that your neck does not lean in front of the rest of your body.

It will take some practice to naturally get these techniques into your posture, but when you do you will definitely like where your hard work is taking you to get a flat stomach and six pack abs.
